Caribou, Maine – A widespread soaking rain is expected to move across Maine early Saturday morning, with travel delays and visibility issues likely as fog and scattered showers begin to settle in across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, light rain will spread from south to north starting early Saturday, with totals reaching up to three-quarters of an inch in eastern counties. Some isolated rain could linger into Sunday morning, especially across the north. Rainfall will be heaviest from late Saturday afternoon into the evening, gradually tapering off overnight.

Today’s weather will remain partly to mostly cloudy, with scattered showers mainly over northern Maine. Inland areas, including Presque Isle and Houlton, could see highs in the low to mid-70s. Coastal regions may experience brief midday sunshine before fog returns tonight. Lows tonight will dip into the low to mid-50s.

Road conditions may deteriorate early Saturday, particularly along Routes 1 and 11 in northern and eastern Maine. Residents should drive with caution in fog-prone zones and ensure headlights are on during low-visibility periods.

Conditions improve Sunday into Monday, with a mix of clouds and sun. Another round of warmer, drier weather is expected by Tuesday, with inland highs nearing the upper 70s.
