Caribou, Maine – Quiet, dry weather will hold through Tuesday, but a significant shift arrives midweek as a soaking rain system threatens to impact travel and low-lying areas by Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, high pressure will keep conditions dry with mostly sunny skies and mild temperatures through Tuesday. Highs will climb into the 50s and 60s across much of northern and central Maine, providing a brief stretch of stable weather.
Rain chances begin increasing Wednesday, with showers moving in during the day and becoming more widespread by Wednesday night. The most impactful period is expected Thursday into Friday, when rainfall totals may exceed 1 inch across areas including Bangor, Caribou, Presque Isle, and Houlton.
This level of rainfall could lead to ponding on roads and minor flooding in poor drainage areas, especially along corridors like I-95 and Route 1. Reduced visibility and wet pavement may slow commutes during peak rain periods late Thursday.
Residents should prepare for changing conditions by midweek and monitor updates as rainfall totals become clearer. While dry weather dominates the short term, additional alerts may be issued if heavier rain bands develop later this week.
