According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake hit at 2:40 a.m. UTC, approximately 29 kilometers from Mina. The quake occurred at a depth of 14 kilometers, causing moderate shaking that some residents may have felt.
The USGS has urged residents to report their experiences on its “Did You Feel It?” platform. Community responses help scientists assess the quake’s impact and improve future seismic data accuracy. No major damage or injuries have been reported so far.
The ShakeMap intensity report rated the quake as a level IV, indicating light shaking that can disturb household items but typically doesn’t cause structural damage. The USGS’ PAGER system currently estimates minimal economic impact and no fatalities, though assessments continue.
