According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake occurred at 2:15 p.m. local time at a depth of 10.6 kilometers. The epicenter was located just off the Pacific Coast Highway, shaking homes and prompting questions from locals on social media.
Residents in Los Angeles and Ventura counties reported feeling light shaking. Some described brief, jarring movement, while others likened it to a sudden jolt. As of Friday evening, more than 700 people filed “Did You Feel It?” reports with the USGS, detailing the quake’s effects.
Seismologists classified the shaking intensity as light, with no significant infrastructure damage anticipated. However, experts urged residents to remain prepared for potential aftershocks.
