Madison, WI – The University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department (UWPD) is investigating a case of vandalism at Library Mall. The incident took place around 3 a.m. on Wednesday when multiple parts of the area, including the Hagenah Fountain, were spray-painted with graffiti.
Crews from Facilities Planning & Management quickly responded to remove the graffiti. According to UWPD, the incident is still under investigation.
The UWPD is also looking into another vandalism case on campus. On Tuesday, Aug. 27, several areas near Witte Hall were also defaced. Officials believe both incidents could be connected.
Both cases involve criminal damage to property and violate UW-Madison’s policies on expressive activity. The department warned that those responsible could face felony charges and potential university disciplinary actions.
