Madison, VA – Icy conditions are expected across Madison County on Christmas Eve, as freezing rain impacts travel during the morning hours.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. Tuesday, with light ice accumulations likely on roads, bridges, and sidewalks. The freezing rain began early Tuesday morning and is expected to continue through midday, affecting morning commutes and untreated surfaces.

Road conditions will improve by early afternoon as temperatures rise above freezing, transitioning precipitation to rain. Drivers are urged to reduce speeds, leave extra time for travel, and be cautious of slick areas.

The holiday forecast shows milder conditions, with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 30s for Christmas Day. Residents should check Virginia’s 511 system for road updates and remain cautious as any wet surfaces could refreeze overnight.
