Lynwood Man Charged with First-Degree Murder Following I-94 Expressway Shooting

Chicago, IL – The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 East Violent Crimes Unit has apprehended Myles M. Stanford, 36, of Lynwood, Illinois, in connection with a fatal expressway shooting. Stanford faces charges of First-Degree Murder (Class M Felony) and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony).

According to authorities, the incident occurred on March 20, 2024, around 2:45 p.m. on the Interstate 94 northbound ramp to 103rd Street. Responding officers discovered a white Toyota with significant gunshot damage and learned the driver had sustained fatal injuries, later dying at a local hospital.

Following an in-depth investigation, Stanford was identified as the driver of the suspect vehicle and was arrested on March 21, 2024. A weapon was also seized during his apprehension. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has since filed the aforementioned charges, and Stanford is currently held at the Riverdale Police Department awaiting trial. It’s important to remember that the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
