According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, Saturday and Sunday will stay sunny with afternoon highs in the upper 80s, while overnight lows dip into the low 60s. Winds will pick up slightly Saturday afternoon, gusting up to 20 mph from the south.
The calm stretch continues Monday with partly cloudy skies and highs near 82°F. However, rain chances build Tuesday with a 20 percent chance of showers after 1 p.m., increasing into the evening hours. The unsettled pattern carries into Wednesday when scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible before 1 p.m. Highs midweek will ease back into the upper 70s.
Drivers should stay alert Tuesday and Wednesday, especially on U.S. Highway 84 and Interstate 27 where rain could reduce visibility. Residents are encouraged to keep outdoor plans flexible and prepare for quick changes in weather conditions.
Showers taper off by Thursday with partly sunny skies and highs near 81°F, before another dry, mild end to the week.
