LUBBOCK, Texas – Patchy fog may reduce visibility across the South Plains late tonight into early Thursday, with drivers urged to use caution on rural routes and low-lying roads before sunrise. The National Weather Service in Lubbock reports overnight lows between 55 and 62 degrees, with light winds from the south at 5 to 10 mph.
According to the National Weather Service, fog is most likely to form after midnight and could linger through early morning, particularly around the Lubbock metro and nearby towns like Plainview and Levelland. Commuters should allow extra travel time and use low beams in fog-prone areas.
By Thursday afternoon, skies are expected to clear as warmer air moves in from the southeast. Highs will climb into the lower to upper 80s, offering a dry, comfortable day across much of the region. Outdoor activities and harvest operations should see ideal conditions once visibility improves.
The fog threat will dissipate by midmorning Thursday, with no additional weather hazards anticipated through the weekend.
