Lisle, IL – A major safety recall affects 26,000 DeNova Detect brand carbon monoxide alarms sold at Lowe’s, Amazon, and other retailers nationwide. The recall, issued by New Cosmos USA Inc., warns consumers of a critical detection failure in combination natural gas and carbon monoxide alarms with model number DD622NCV.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the alarms may enter “sleep mode” after an alert lasting less than four minutes. This malfunction can prevent the alarm from detecting further gas leaks, potentially leading to carbon monoxide poisoning.
Consumers who purchased these alarms between December 2023 and July 2024 are urged to visit www.denovadetect.com/safetynotice-dd622 for a replacement. They should continue using the recalled alarm until they receive a replacement device and return the defective unit in the prepaid shipping package provided.
The CPSC advises consumers to take immediate action to protect their safety. No injuries have been reported to date, but the recall underscores the importance of ensuring reliable gas detection in homes.
