Louisville, Kentucky – Gray skies and damp pavement set the tone early, but the bigger change arrives later today as colder air slides into central Kentucky. Rain showers lingering through the morning begin to fade this afternoon, then colder air flips some of that moisture into spotty snow showers by evening, creating a narrow window for slick travel.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, light rain continues into early afternoon ahead of a passing cold front. As temperatures fall later today, precipitation coverage shrinks from west to east, but isolated snow showers may develop into the evening hours. The best chance for a light coating — around a dusting to a tenth of an inch — stretches from southeast Indiana through the Bluegrass region and along the I-75 corridor, with Louisville on the western edge of that zone.

Daytime temperatures hover in the 40s early, then slide downward as colder air settles in. By evening, readings dip into the 30s, allowing any lingering moisture to briefly stick on colder surfaces. Most roads stay wet, but bridges, overpasses, and untreated side streets could turn slick after sunset.

Snow showers remain hit-or-miss and short-lived. Still, even brief bursts can reduce visibility and surprise drivers during the evening commute. Motorists should slow down, increase following distance, and remain alert for sudden changes in road conditions.

Looking ahead, colder air holds tonight, reinforcing a winter feel even as precipitation fades. Any snow that does fall stays light and localized, but the temperature drop itself marks the bigger impact.
