Shreveport, LA – Thunderstorms are expected across northwest Louisiana tonight before a stretch of warm, sunny spring weather arrives. Residents should prepare for rain and possible gusty winds this evening before temperatures rise in the coming days.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms will develop late Saturday, with an 80% chance of rain before midnight. Some storms may bring heavy downpours and gusts up to 20 mph. Temperatures will drop to the mid-40s overnight.

By Sunday, skies will clear, bringing drier conditions with a high near 53°F. Winds will remain light from the north at 5-10 mph. Sunday night will be chilly, with lows around 39°F.

Spring warmth returns Monday as sunny skies push temperatures near 69°F. Winds will shift from the northwest at 5 mph. Clear conditions will continue into Monday night, with lows dipping to 44°F.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be warmer, with highs in the mid-70s and mostly clear skies. A slight chance of showers is expected Wednesday afternoon as a weak system moves through.

Looking ahead, Thursday will be the warmest day of the week, with highs reaching near 79°F before another round of showers arrives Friday.

With daylight saving time beginning Sunday, sunset times will extend, bringing longer evenings to enjoy the upcoming warm spell. Drivers should be mindful of the time change, as drowsy driving incidents tend to rise after clocks are set forward.
