Shreveport, LA – Residents across northwest Louisiana should brace for showers and strong thunderstorms Monday night as a cold front moves through the region. The system is expected to bring heavy rainfall, muggy conditions, and gusty winds overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, showers will increase across the area beginning late Monday afternoon, with chances for isolated thunderstorms reaching 40% by Monday night. Some locations along I-20 could see rainfall totals of a quarter to half an inch, with isolated spots approaching an inch. Winds will shift from the south to the southwest at 5 to 15 mph, creating warm and humid conditions ahead of the front.
By Tuesday, rain chances will linger at 30%, with scattered thunderstorms possible in the morning. Temperatures will remain above average, with highs near 75 degrees in Shreveport. By Tuesday evening, a gradual clearing trend is expected, though patchy fog may develop overnight.
Looking ahead, Wednesday brings another round of showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the morning, before drier, cooler air filters into the region. Highs will dip slightly to the upper 60s, with clear and sunny skies returning Thursday and Friday. Residents can expect daytime highs near 60 degrees later in the week, with overnight lows dropping into the low 40s and upper 30s.
Drivers should remain cautious during Monday night’s commute, as ponding on roadways and reduced visibility are likely in areas of heavier rain. Travelers on I-20 and I-30 are advised to check weather updates and allow extra time for delays.
