Shreveport, Louisiana – Louisiana’s first major summer surge lands Saturday as temperatures in Shreveport hit 95°F — but storm clouds are already forming behind the heat.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday will start mostly cloudy before shifting to mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-90s. South winds between 5 to 10 mph will offer little relief. The real concern begins Sunday and intensifies into Memorial Day, with scattered thunderstorms, lightning, and a strong chance of downpours disrupting travel and outdoor plans across Caddo Parish.

Sunday afternoon carries a 30% chance of storms after 1 p.m., but rain chances increase significantly by Sunday night, with a 70% likelihood of thunderstorms developing after midnight. Memorial Day itself brings an 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms — the highest risk window in the five-day outlook — along with highs near 86°F. Residents planning to gather outdoors should stay weather-aware and prepare to move indoors quickly if storms develop.

Monday night remains stormy, with another 70% chance of severe weather possibly extending into early Tuesday. Rain and thunder will taper off by midweek but may linger, with scattered showers possible through Thursday.

Expect reduced visibility on I-20 and avoid flooded low-lying roads during and after heavy downpours. Keep mobile alerts on, and have a storm plan in place through at least Tuesday.
