New Orleans, LA – Louisiana residents are preparing for a series of severe weather events this week, including heavy rainfall overnight Tuesday and freezing temperatures through Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in New Orleans/Baton Rouge, heavy rain is expected from 6 p.m. Tuesday through noon Wednesday, with rainfall totals ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 inches across central and coastal Louisiana. Isolated flash flooding is possible, particularly during the early Wednesday morning commute.

A hard freeze is expected Thursday morning across southwest Mississippi and southeast Louisiana, with temperatures dropping below freezing and threatening sensitive plants. Areas along and north of the I-10/12 corridor have a high probability of experiencing freezing conditions, with residents urged to protect vulnerable plants and pipes.

The freezing temperatures will persist into Friday morning, with up to 12 hours of sub-freezing conditions expected. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates, safeguard sensitive vegetation, and prepare for potential pipe damage in northern regions.
