Jacksonville, FL – A frost advisory has been issued for parts of northeast Florida and southeast Georgia, with temperatures expected to drop as low as 32 to 36 degrees between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, near-calm winds combined with the cold temperatures will lead to frost formation across multiple counties, including Suwannee, Baker, Union, and Gilchrist in Florida, as well as Coffee, Appling, and Wayne counties in Georgia.

Residents are urged to take precautions to protect sensitive plants, as frost could cause damage or kill unprotected vegetation. Those with outdoor plants should cover them or bring them indoors overnight.

While frost is not uncommon in these regions during winter, the upcoming advisory highlights a particularly cold morning compared to recent temperatures. Frost advisories are typically issued when conditions could affect agricultural interests, gardens, and outdoor plants.

This cold spell will be brief, with temperatures expected to rise after sunrise on Tuesday. However, residents should remain cautious and prepare accordingly.
