Shreveport, LA – Residents across northern Louisiana should prepare for heavy rainfall this weekend, with totals expected to surpass 4 inches in some areas. The National Weather Service warns of a “Slight Risk” of flooding beginning Friday night, extending through Sunday evening.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will begin early Friday evening and intensify over the weekend, impacting areas along I-20 and I-49. Local forecasts show the potential for up to 6 inches of rain in isolated locations, particularly near Shreveport. Flood-prone areas, including urban streets and low-lying regions, could experience significant water accumulation. Motorists should avoid flooded roadways and monitor real-time traffic updates.

Thursday’s weather will provide a temporary reprieve, with sunny skies and highs near 55 degrees. However, clouds will build Friday, with a 20% chance of evening showers escalating to heavy rain overnight. Weekend temperatures will range from the upper 40s to low 60s, accompanied by thunderstorm activity on Sunday.

Residents are urged to clear storm drains and secure outdoor items ahead of the storm. Travel plans should be adjusted to account for hazardous road conditions. Stay informed by checking weather updates regularly and heeding local advisories.

Looking ahead to early next week, showers will taper off Monday, with a 30% chance of rain and milder weather returning by Tuesday.
