Shreveport, LA – A mix of freezing temperatures and heavy rainfall is set to sweep through Louisiana, bringing potential hazards for residents. Forecasters warn that the Four State Region, including the Shreveport area, could see over two inches of rain this weekend, increasing the likelihood of localized flooding.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Shreveport, colder temperatures will move in today, with lows dropping to the mid-20s tonight. Thursday is expected to remain clear, but rain chances climb significantly beginning Saturday night. Showers and potential thunderstorms could persist through Sunday night. NWS reports that the heaviest rainfall is likely late Sunday, with slight flood risks already in place for eastern and southern Louisiana.

Motorists traveling on I-49 or Highway 80 should exercise caution, especially during nighttime hours when visibility is reduced. The combination of rain-soaked roads and cooler temperatures may lead to hazardous driving conditions.

Looking ahead, Friday and Saturday will bring highs near 50 degrees, offering brief dry conditions before rain returns. Sunday’s temperatures will rise to 61 degrees before cooling off again Monday with a high of 48 degrees. Residents are advised to monitor local weather updates and prepare for changing conditions.
