Jackson, KY – An Arctic cold front is bringing frigid air and dangerous wind chills across Kentucky today, with temperatures expected to stay below freezing. Residents should prepare for single-digit wind chills this morning and gusts as high as 45 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, a wind advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m., impacting much of eastern Kentucky. Gusty winds may cause tree limbs to fall and create scattered power outages. Temperatures will hover near 26°F but feel significantly colder due to wind chill. Drivers on main roadways, including U.S. Route 23 and KY-15, should exercise caution as slick spots could develop.

By tonight, conditions will clear, but temperatures will drop even further, with lows around 9°F. Sunny skies return Friday, but highs will reach just 33°F, keeping conditions brisk. Calm winds will offer some relief heading into the weekend, though Saturday morning will still see temperatures in the teens.

The extended forecast shows a slight warming trend by Sunday, with highs near 55°F. However, rain showers are likely late Sunday night, transitioning into heavier precipitation Monday.

Residents should dress in layers, limit time outdoors, and bring pets inside during the coldest periods. Officials advise securing outdoor objects to prevent damage from strong winds.
