Louisiana Weather Alert: Dense Fog Reduces Visibility Until 11 AM Friday

New Orleans, LA – Dense fog is creating hazardous conditions across southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi, with visibility dropping to a quarter-mile or less in some areas. A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. CDT Friday, impacting cities including Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Gulfport.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in New Orleans, the foggy conditions could lead to dangerous travel. Motorists are advised to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles.

In addition to land-based travel hazards, marine warnings are in effect. A Dense Fog Advisory for the Gulf Coast waters, including Lake Borgne and Breton Sound, remains active until 10 a.m. CDT Friday. Mariners should exercise caution, as visibility is expected to be reduced to one nautical mile or less.

Furthermore, a Small Craft Advisory will take effect from 7 p.m. Friday through 7 a.m. Sunday, bringing winds up to 30 knots and seas as high as 12 feet. Boaters, particularly those in smaller vessels, are urged to avoid navigating during these conditions.
