Shreveport, Louisiana – Dangerous heat will grip northwest Louisiana through at least Friday, with Shreveport expected to hit a heat index of 102°F by Wednesday afternoon. High temperatures near 97°F and little overnight relief could increase health risks, especially for vulnerable groups without air conditioning.

According to the National Weather Service, sunny skies and east winds around 5 mph will do little to offset the rising humidity and daily highs in the mid to upper 90s. Overnight lows will stay in the mid-70s, preventing homes from cooling down and adding to heat stress.

Tuesday: Sunny with a high near 94°F. Light northeast breeze in the afternoon.
Wednesday: High of 95°F, heat index up to 102°F. Winds shifting east.
Thursday–Friday: Highs near 97°F, mostly clear skies, lows around 76°F.
Saturday–Sunday: Continued sun and highs near 96°F.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during peak heat hours, and check on elderly neighbors or pets. Cooling shelters may be available if heat advisories are issued later this week.
