Louisiana – Dry air and gusty winds are already setting the stage for wildfire risk across the Ark-La-Tex this morning, as temperatures surge toward 90°F under bright spring sun.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, relative humidity will drop between 30% and 45% by afternoon while south winds increase to 10–20 mph with higher gusts. Those numbers matter. Combined with critically dry fuels, they create conditions where fires can spread quickly and unpredictably.

Across Shreveport, Bossier City, and into East Texas communities like Marshall and Longview, the air will feel warm but deceptively dry. Grasses and brush can ignite easily. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that throws sparks. That includes roadside work and equipment use.

Travel along I-20 and surrounding rural roads may also carry added risk. Smoke from any fire could reduce visibility quickly, especially in open areas. Keep headlights on if conditions change.

The heat continues into the workweek, though slightly lower. Highs settle into the low 80s Monday and Tuesday, then climb back into the upper 80s by midweek. Skies remain mostly sunny, and dry conditions persist.

This pattern keeps fire concerns elevated beyond today, even as winds ease slightly. No widespread rain is expected to provide relief.
