Shreveport, LA – Residents across Louisiana and East Texas face heightened risks Saturday as severe thunderstorms and potential tornadoes are forecast. The National Weather Service warns of damaging winds and isolated tornadoes, particularly along the I-20 corridor.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, storms are expected to intensify Saturday evening, with the most significant threats occurring after 6 p.m. Residents in areas such as Texarkana, Shreveport, and Monroe are urged to have multiple ways to receive warnings and know their safe locations in case of a tornado. Rainfall could exceed 2 inches, increasing the potential for flash flooding.

A Dense Fog Advisory is also in effect through 9 a.m. Saturday, with visibility dropping to less than a quarter mile in parts of Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas. Drivers along major roadways like I-49 and Highway 71 are encouraged to reduce speed, use headlights, and allow extra travel time.

Looking ahead, Sunday will bring a calmer day with highs near 70°F and sunny skies, offering relief after Saturday’s storms. The first week of the New Year is expected to remain sunny and dry, with temperatures ranging from the mid-50s to low-70s across the region.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from local authorities and ensure safety measures are in place. Stay weather-aware and avoid unnecessary travel during storm warnings.
