Shreveport, Louisiana – Strong to severe storms could disrupt Easter weekend plans across the ArkLaTex, with the greatest threat beginning late Saturday and continuing into Sunday. Areas near and north of I-30 face the highest risk, including Shreveport, Texarkana, and parts of southwest Arkansas.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Level 2 out of 5 risk is in place for both Saturday and Sunday, with Saturday’s activity confined to the I-30 corridor. The threat expands to a broader portion of the region by Easter Sunday. Forecasters warn of large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes, particularly Saturday night through early Sunday.
Cities such as Longview, El Dorado, and Minden should prepare for possible power outages and dangerous travel conditions. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and monitor NOAA Weather Radio for alerts. Travel during storms is discouraged, especially after dark when visibility drops.
More widespread severe weather is expected Sunday, with storms potentially lasting into the evening. Additional advisories and updates are likely as models evolve. Warnings remain in effect through the holiday weekend.
