Paducah, KY – Strong winds and scattered thunderstorms will sweep across parts of Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, and Indiana this weekend, bringing the potential for severe weather and travel disruptions from late Friday into Sunday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, wind gusts of 30–35 mph will develop Friday as warm, humid air surges north. Thunderstorms are expected to begin after midnight in southeast Missouri and southern Illinois, with additional rounds likely Saturday afternoon and again Sunday, especially during the evening hours.

The greatest storm coverage is forecast across southeast Missouri and southern Illinois, including cities like Cape Girardeau and Carbondale. Western Kentucky—particularly near Paducah and Mayfield—along with southwest Indiana, including Evansville, could see storms with heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning.

A few of these storms may become strong to severe, especially on Sunday, when the risk of hail or isolated damaging wind increases. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, charge devices, and avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm times.

Storm chances will taper off early next week, with dry, warmer weather expected to return Monday. Additional showers may arrive midweek.
