Shreveport, LA – A heat advisory is in effect today for Shreveport and the surrounding Four State Region, with afternoon heat indices expected to climb near 109 degrees.
According to the US National Weather Service in Shreveport, the advisory will remain in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. CDT. The extreme heat, combined with high humidity, poses significant health risks, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Residents are advised to take precautionary measures, such as drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms, avoiding prolonged sun exposure, and checking on vulnerable neighbors and relatives. Outdoor activities should be limited to the early morning or evening to avoid the peak heat.
The forecast for Shreveport indicates persistent high temperatures throughout the week. Today’s high will reach 96 degrees, followed by highs of 97 degrees on Thursday and 98 degrees on Friday. The weekend will see slight relief, with temperatures hovering around 96 to 97 degrees, but the heat will continue into Monday, with a high of 95 degrees expected.
Clear skies will dominate the forecast, with no precipitation expected to alleviate the heat. Overnight lows will remain warm, ranging from 75 to 78 degrees, providing little respite from the daytime heat.
