Baton Rouge, LA – A flood warning remains in effect for the Mississippi River at Red River Landing, impacting East Baton Rouge, Pointe Coupee, and West Feliciana Parishes through late Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in New Orleans.
As of Friday morning, the river stage was at 51.0 feet, surpassing the flood stage of 48.0 feet. The water level is forecast to gradually recede below flood stage by early Tuesday afternoon and continue falling to 33.7 feet by April 4.
NWS reports that minor flooding is occurring, and low-lying areas, including river islands and recreational camps, will remain inundated. Riverbank erosion is a concern, and officials urge caution when near the water. Motorists are advised not to drive through flooded areas or around barricades.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local updates and exercise safety precautions. Additional information, including river stage forecasts, is available at www.weather.gov/lix under the Rivers and Lakes section. The next NWS update is scheduled for 3:15 a.m. CST Saturday.
