Lake Charles, LA – A dense fog advisory is in effect for portions of Louisiana and southeast Texas until 8 a.m. CST Saturday, significantly reducing visibility and creating hazardous travel conditions. Coastal areas will remain under the advisory until noon CST.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Lake Charles, dense fog is expected to reduce visibility to a quarter to half a mile across central, south-central, southwest, and west-central Louisiana, as well as southeast Texas. Affected areas include Lafayette, Lake Charles, Alexandria, Beaumont, and surrounding communities.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution while traveling, as low visibility could make for dangerous road conditions. Motorists should slow down, use their headlights, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles to minimize risks.

In addition to inland concerns, a marine dense fog advisory is also in place for Sabine Lake, Calcasieu Lake, Vermilion and West Cote Blanche Bays, and coastal waters from Cameron, Louisiana, to High Island, Texas. Boaters are advised to navigate with caution, utilize proper fog signals, and ensure all running lights are operational.

The advisory is set to expire later this morning, but travelers and mariners should remain alert for any updates from the NWS as conditions may change.
