Shreveport, La. – Dangerous heat will grip the Four State Region again today, with afternoon highs climbing into the middle to upper 90s and heat index values approaching the triple digits. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across much of Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, and southeast Oklahoma.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, the highest rain chances — up to 46% — are expected in deep East Texas and central Louisiana, while most other areas carry a 30% to 40% chance of storms. Any storms that form could bring heavy downpours, brief gusty winds, and lightning.
Cities such as Texarkana, Longview, Natchitoches, and El Dorado will see highs from 94°F to 98°F, with heat peaking between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, drink plenty of water, and seek air-conditioned spaces when possible.
Drivers should remain alert for sudden downpours that can reduce visibility and cause ponding on roads late this afternoon. Additional heat and storm chances are likely to continue midweek.
