Los Angeles, CA – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the mountains of Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles counties, effective from 4 p.m. Saturday through 4 p.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations of up to 10 inches are expected at elevations above 6,500 feet. Areas between 5,000 and 6,500 feet could see 3 to 6 inches, with trace amounts possible as low as 4,000 feet. Snow levels may dip to 3,500 feet Sunday night into Monday morning.

The advisory warns that travel in the affected regions could become treacherous, especially on mountain roads and major corridors such as the Grapevine on Interstate 5, which is expected to see up to one inch of snow. Commuters are advised to prepare for potentially hazardous conditions during the Monday morning rush.

Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution. Officials recommend checking road conditions by dialing 511 or visiting Caltrans’ online updates before traveling.

This snowfall marks a significant weather event for the region, with snow levels lower than usual for this time of year. Travelers are advised to prepare for delays and monitor updates through Monday afternoon.
