South Carolina’s Upstate starts calm with soft clouds and mild air, but subtle changes are already building toward a more active afternoon. Roads across Spartanburg remain dry early, though clouds will bubble up and bring isolated showers later in the day.

According to the National Weather Service, highs reach near 80°F with light southwest winds and a 20% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms . That warmth and moisture will help spark brief, hit-or-miss storms after mid-afternoon.

Through Wednesday, storm chances increase slightly. A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms develops after 2 p.m., with the best chance during late-day travel hours. Drivers along I-85 and I-26 should expect sudden rain bursts and slick pavement.

Wednesday night keeps a lingering storm risk before skies partially clear. Thursday offers a quieter break with sunshine and highs near 82°F, giving the Upstate a brief window of dry, stable weather.

By Friday, the pattern turns more active again. A 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms develops, with potential for heavier downpours and lightning during the afternoon. Conditions may deteriorate quickly, especially for evening travel and outdoor plans.

Saturday continues the unsettled trend with a 40% chance of rain and highs near 81°F. Wet roads and intermittent showers could impact weekend travel across Spartanburg County.

Five Day Forecast for Spartanburg, South Carolina:
Today: High 80°F, slight chance of afternoon storms (20%)

Thursday: High 82°F, mostly sunny
