Los Angeles, CA – Triple-digit heat is expected to grip much of Southern California starting Friday morning, with temperatures soaring to 100°F across valleys and mountain areas through Saturday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Oxnard, a Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Saturday for the Los Angeles and Ventura County Valleys, Santa Monica Mountains, and the southern Salinas Valley. Cities under alert include Santa Clarita, Pasadena, Woodland Hills, Ojai, and Thousand Oaks.

Sensitive groups—including the elderly, children, and those without air conditioning—face heightened risks of heat-related illness. Outdoor workers and hikers should limit activity during peak hours and take frequent shaded breaks. Officials urge residents to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Daytime highs near 100°F are possible in Burbank, Van Nuys, and Glendale, with warm overnight lows offering little relief. In mountain recreation areas like Topanga and Malibu Bowl, the combination of heat and sun could also raise fire weather concerns.

This is the first major heat event of the season. Additional advisories may be issued if conditions intensify.
