Riverside, Calif. – Sweltering temperatures are set to grip the Inland Empire beginning Friday, with highs expected to push past 100°F and raise the risk of heat-related illness across San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, a Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. Friday through 9 p.m. Saturday, covering cities including Riverside, Ontario, Fontana, Corona, and Moreno Valley. Daytime highs could climb between 96 and 104°F, with Saturday marking the peak of the heatwave.

The extreme warmth—running 15 to 20 degrees above normal—poses a danger to those spending extended time outdoors, particularly vulnerable populations like seniors and outdoor workers. Health officials urge residents to stay indoors with air conditioning, hydrate frequently, and check on elderly neighbors or anyone without reliable cooling.

Cooling centers may open across the region, and residents are advised to limit strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours. The National Weather Service warns that prolonged exposure could lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke if precautions aren’t taken.

Temperatures are expected to ease after sunset Saturday, but advisories may be extended if conditions persist.
