New York, NY – A stretch of fall warmth is on the way for the New York City region this weekend, with sunshine and above-average temperatures expected Saturday, October 4.
According to the National Weather Service, morning lows will dip into the upper 40s inland and parts of the Long Island Pine Barrens, with most other areas starting in the 50s. By afternoon, highs are forecast to climb into the upper 70s and lower 80s. Some of the warmest urban spots in northeastern New Jersey may even reach the middle 80s.
Skies will remain mostly sunny, with light winds from the west-southwest at 5 to 10 mph. The pleasant weather comes as part of a broader warming trend across the region following cooler nights earlier in the week.
For New York City, the daily almanac shows the average high for this date is 69 degrees, with a record high of 88 set in 1941. Saturday’s forecasted highs could run more than 10 degrees above average, offering an unusually warm October weekend.
Sunrise is at 6:56 a.m., with sunset at 6:33 p.m., providing a full day of comfortable conditions for outdoor activities, travel, or fall events across the metro area, Long Island, and nearby New Jersey counties.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the mild stretch, as seasonal shifts later in October often bring cooler and wetter conditions.
