Logansport, IN – A high-speed chase through Logansport on Monday night ended with a crash, leaving police searching for a juvenile driver.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, an off-duty deputy attempted to stop a speeding Nissan Altima near County Road 475 East on US 35 around 8:46 p.m. The driver fled southbound on County Road 225 South before looping back into Logansport, reaching speeds of nearly 120 mph.
The chase weaved through downtown streets, including 9th and High, before the vehicle struck a parked car at 14th Street and High. That car then hit another vehicle.
The driver abandoned the car and fled into Riverside Park, ultimately entering the Eel River. Authorities lost sight of him but have tentatively identified him. Three juvenile passengers in the car cooperated with police and were released to family.
Logansport Police and Walton Police assisted in the six-minute pursuit, which remains under investigation. Charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
