Firefighters’ Quick Action Saves Animals in Custer Park Barn Blaze

CUSTER PARK, IL — A structure fire in the 19000 block of Bauer Road on Thursday became the scene of a dramatic animal rescue. 

The Braidwood Fire Protection District, upon arriving at a fully engulfed pole barn around 12:30 p.m., finding several animals in imminent danger in a nearby pen. With no time to spare, firefighters rapidly cooled the animals, ensuring their safety. 

The fire, which led to no human or animal casualties, is under investigation.
