HOBART, IN – A domestic dispute turned into a SWAT standoff early Wednesday after an Indiana man pointed a gun at a woman’s head.

Emanuel Pugh Jr. was charged with multiple felonies, including domestic battery by means of a deadly weapon, intimidation, and pointing a firearm.

According to Hobart police, the victim reported that she woke up to Pugh with his hand around her neck, asking where the keys were. When she said she didn’t know, Pugh pressed a handgun against her head. The victim left and reported the incident to the Hobart Police Department, while Pugh continued to threaten her via text message.

Pugh was later taken into custody at his mother’s home in Merrillville. Several firearms were recovered during his arrest. During a subsequent interview, Pugh admitted to pointing the gun at the victim to show her he was serious.

Police remind residents if you or someone you know is involved in a violent domestic relationship, please seek help.
