BOURBONNAIS, IL – Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School student Jordan Fox has been nominated for Best Actress in an Actress Role category at the Illinois High School Musical Theatre Awards (IHSMTA).
Fox played Velma in the school’s production of Chicago, earning her the Best Actress nomination. The production has also been nominated for Best Production and Best Ensemble.
Directed by David C. Morgan with assistant director Dana Harris and vocal director Dylan Harris, Chicago featured Patricia Ferris as choreographer. The show ran from April 13-16, 2023, and starred Larrigan Saindon as Roxie, Roan Cannon as Billy, and Nathan Marcotte as Amos.
Mia Kravitz played Mama, with Myah Crawford as Liz, Lena Weatherford as Annie, Maya DeYoung as June, Alice Shoup as Hunyak, Elaina Storer as Mona, RayAnne Shaul as Mary Sunshine, and Jace Hunt as Emcee.
The IHSMTA awards celebrate outstanding high school theatre productions across Illinois, with nominees including Ava Barruffi from Maine South High School and Payton Fraser from Joliet West High School.
The winners of the IHSMTA awards, presented by Broadway in Chicago and sponsored by NBC 5, will be announced on May 22nd. This year’s categories include Best Performance in an Actor Role, Best Performance in Actress Role, Best Production, Best Direction, and Best Ensemble.
From the twenty-four nominees, two Illinois award recipients will go on an all-expense paid trip to New York City to represent the State of Illinois at The Jimmy Awards® and participate in a week-long theatre intensive of coaching and rehearsals with industry professionals in preparation for a one-night-only showcase on Broadway. The Jimmy Awards® will be held later this summer.
The IHSMTA awards are highly respected, and a win can greatly enhance a student’s college applications and future career prospects. BBCHS and the Bradley Bourbonnais Theatre Education Project have a lot to be proud of, with their production of Chicago receiving recognition in several categories.
