IROQUOIS COUNTY – The sudden closure of Route 45 on Monday amplifies fears of flooding in Iroquois County.
The Emergency Management Agency’s announcement warned of ongoing rain exacerbating flooding issues. Swift action from the Illinois Department of Transportation closed Route 45 to mitigate disruptions, detours posted.
With rain easing, hope emerges for receding threat. The closure serves as a stark reminder of the region’s vulnerability to nature’s forces. Previous downpours caused havoc, with Cissna Park received over 11 inches of rainfall. An additional 1-2.5 inches was scheduled to fall Monday.
Residents remain watchful as the closure accentuates susceptibility to flooding. National Weather Service issued a Flood Advisory for parts of Iroquois, Ford, and Livingston counties.
