BOURBONNAIS – Several schools in Kankakee County have announced early dismissals and e-learning days ahead of a possible snowstorm on Friday, March 3rd, 2023. The decision was made due to forecasts of heavy snow and potentially dangerous travel conditions.

Bourbonnais Elementary School District #53 announced that they will not be in normal attendance on Friday and will instead be utilizing an E-Learning day. KCC’s college facilities will close at noon on Friday, and afternoon classes will be canceled, including their extension centers.

Joliet School District 86 also announced that all District 86 schools and buildings will be closed on Friday, with parent-teacher conferences taking place virtually.

Bradley District 61 schools will have early dismissals with Bradley Central dismissing at 12:00 pm, Bradley East at 12:30 pm, and Bradley West at 1:00 pm. The district will provide lunch to all students before dismissal. The status of after-school games and practices will be communicated separately. The school district will also utilize an e-learning day if the conditions change during the night.

Similarly, the Manteno School District will also have an early release with the elementary school releasing at 10:55 am, middle school at 11:05 am, and high school at 11:15 am.

Both Kankakee School District 111 and Bishop McNamara will dismiss early at 1 p.m.

The decision to shift the schedule to an early dismissal or e-learning day was made out of an abundance of caution for the safety of students and staff.
