Middleton, WI – Empower Brands, a leading kitchen appliance manufacturer, has issued a massive recall impacting nearly half a million units of its PowerXL Self-Cleaning Juicers. The recall stems from concerns over laceration and ingestion hazards associated with the juicers.

The affected juicers, specifically models SHL90-SC and SHL96, have the potential to rupture while in use, posing a risk of fragments striking consumers and causing lacerations. Additionally, the juicers may leave behind small particle shavings in the juice, presenting a potential hazard if ingested.

The recall affects approximately 469,000 units in the United States, with an additional 10,900 units sold in Canada. Empower Brands strongly advises consumers to immediately cease using the recalled juicers and to contact the company for a full refund.

To determine if your juicer is affected, please check the rating label located on the bottom for SHL96 or on the side for SHL90-SC.

Empower Brands has received reports of 261 incidents, including 47 cases of injuries, some of which required emergency treatment. Injuries reported included severe cuts necessitating stitches, as well as bruises and instances of ingestion of small particles that required medical attention.

Both models were sold at various retail outlets, including Walmart, Target, Amazon.com, Marshalls, Kohl’s, CVS, T.J. Maxx, and BJ’s Wholesale.
