Dwight, IL – A two-vehicle crash on Route 47 near Brewster Road sent three people to area hospitals Monday night and led to DUI charges against a Gardner woman.

According to the Dwight Police Department, the crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. on September 29, 2025. Emergency crews from Dwight EMS, Dwight Fire, and Dwight Police responded, along with multiple assisting agencies including Pontiac Fire, Gardner Fire, Coal City Fire, Lifestar Air Ambulance, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, and VCOM Communications Center.

Police reported that the driver accused of causing the crash, identified as Ashlee Schell of Gardner, was charged with multiple offenses. Those charges include DUI (alcohol), endangering the life or health of a child, misuse of electronic devices, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and improper lane usage.

Authorities confirmed that three people were transported to hospitals for treatment. Their conditions were not released.

Schell was issued a notice to appear in Livingston County Court in November.

The crash temporarily disrupted traffic along Route 47 near Dwight while crews responded and cleared the scene.
