Livingston County Detectives Use Cameras to Solve Cornell Break-In

Pontiac, IL – Two men from Streator, Illinois, face burglary-related charges after a rural Livingston County break-in investigation. Authorities linked the suspects to the crime using advanced surveillance technology.

According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of an attempted break-in near Cornell on October 28. Detectives analyzed security footage and identified a suspect vehicle using Flock Safety Cameras in Reading Township. On October 31, police stopped the vehicle, recovering stolen items and evidence connected to the crime.

Officials identified Christopher L. Martinez and Anthony J. Preidis, both from Streator, as suspects. Martinez faces multiple charges, including residential burglary, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, theft over $500, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Preidis is charged with residential burglary.

The Livingston County State’s Attorney’s Office has filed charges against both individuals. They remain innocent until proven guilty in court.

The sheriff’s office credited advanced camera systems and inter-agency cooperation for expediting the investigation.
