Winter Storm to Bring 6+ Inches of Snow and High Winds to Western Pennsylvania and Northern West Virginia Through Saturday

Pittsburgh, PA – A Winter Storm Warning and Wind Advisory are in effect for western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia. Officials urge residents to prepare for hazardous weather through Saturday.

The National Weather Service reports the Wind Advisory will last from 5 p.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday. Strong winds are expected behind a passing cold front. Gusts may reach 40 mph, creating potential travel hazards and power outages.

Winter Storm Warnings begin Thursday afternoon and continue through Saturday morning. Areas impacted include Westmoreland and Fayette counties in Pennsylvania and Preston and Tucker counties in West Virginia. Forecasts predict 6 to 12 inches of snow in most regions, with higher elevations potentially receiving 10 to 15 inches.

A Winter Weather Advisory covers Forest, Jefferson, and Indiana counties in Pennsylvania and eastern Monongalia County in West Virginia. These areas may see 3 to 6 inches of snow.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects and limit travel during peak wind and snowfall periods. Emergency supplies, including flashlights and blankets, are recommended in case of outages.
