St. Johns, AZ – A high wind warning is in effect for the Little Colorado River Valley in Apache County until 7 PM MST today, according to the National Weather Service. Southwest to west winds are expected to reach 30 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, creating hazardous conditions.

The strong winds will likely cause damage to trees and power lines, leading to widespread power outages in the area. Residents and travelers should be prepared for difficult driving conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles such as RVs, campers, and tractor-trailers. Blowing dust will further reduce visibility, making travel even more dangerous.

The National Weather Service urges people to secure loose objects that could be blown around and to remain cautious of falling debris and tree limbs. Travel is not recommended unless absolutely necessary.

For safety, drivers are advised to exercise extreme caution, and anyone with travel plans in the affected areas should reconsider or delay their trips.
