Lisle, IL – A 33-year-old man was killed early Sunday after his pickup truck left Maple Avenue in Lisle, struck multiple mailboxes and crashed into a tree, authorities said.
According to the Lisle Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2:51 a.m. Sunday to the 900 block of Maple Avenue for a reported single-vehicle crash. Police said officers found a Ford F-150 that had been traveling westbound before leaving the roadway.
The truck struck several mailboxes and then collided with a tree, according to police. The driver, who was the vehicle’s sole occupant, was found unresponsive and trapped inside.
Personnel from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District extricated the man from the truck and performed lifesaving measures before transporting him to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital. Police said he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities have not publicly identified the driver. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
Investigators with the MERIT Major Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. Police said the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the Lisle Police Department, the reconstruction team and the DuPage County Coroner’s Office.
No other vehicles or people were involved in the crash, according to authorities.
The crash occurred along Maple Avenue in Lisle, a DuPage County community in the western suburbs of the Chicago metropolitan area. Authorities did not immediately announce what may have caused the pickup to leave the roadway.
Additional information could be released as investigators continue working to determine the circumstances leading up to the fatal collision.
