Light Snow Accumulations Expected Across Eastern Illinois, Wind Advisory in Effect

Champaign, IL – Light snow and strong winds are sweeping through northeastern and central Illinois today. Areas east of Bloomington to Robinson may see up to one inch of snow on grassy surfaces, with Vermilion County possibly reaching two inches. Temperatures are expected to peak near 38°F with gusts as high as 47 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, rain and snow are likely through the afternoon. Precipitation will transition to lighter rain by evening, with conditions gradually clearing overnight. A wind advisory remains in effect until tonight, with breezy conditions continuing into Friday morning.

Friday will bring cooler but calmer weather, with sunny skies and a high near 45°F. The weekend promises improving conditions, with temperatures rising to the 50s by Sunday. Forecasters predict a chance of light rain Sunday evening, but overall, dry and pleasant weather is expected to dominate.

Residents are advised to exercise caution during periods of reduced visibility and slippery conditions. Drivers should remain alert for changing road conditions throughout the day.
