Dixon, IL – A 27-year-old Dixon man was arrested following a road rage incident on August 11 that involved the alleged brandishing of a firearm. According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to Bloody Gulch Road near College Avenue around 7:07 p.m. after receiving reports of a confrontation. Officers from the Dixon Police Department also responded to the scene.
During the investigation, authorities determined that Gary J. Patterson Jr. had driven past two vehicles on Pump Factory Road, just north of Bloody Gulch Road, before pulling into a residence on the 700 block of Bloody Gulch Road. Patterson allegedly exited his vehicle and confronted the driver of another vehicle, during which he reportedly pushed the victim and pointed a firearm at them.
Patterson was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Battery, both Class A Misdemeanors, carrying a potential sentence of up to one year in jail.
Citizens are urged to avoid confronting aggressive drivers and to contact law enforcement if they encounter suspicious behavior. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Crimestoppers are seeking additional information about the incident, offering a reward for tips leading to an arrest.
