Las Vegas Turkey Trot Set to Bring Runners Back for Holiday Tradition

LAS VEGAS – Runners are gearing up to burn off their holiday calories with the return of the annual Turkey Trot.

The city’s most beloved holiday tradition is returning with a variety of races on Thursday, November 27. Now in its 18th year, the Thanksgiving event offers hundreds of families the chance to enjoy the scenic views along the Historic Railroad Trail through the Lake Mead Recreation Area.. Last year, the trot drew in a crowd of over 2000 athletes and spectators.  

The event offers a variety of race distances to suit everyone. This year, runners can choose from a half marathon, a 12k, a 5k, and a 1-mile. Whether walking or running, participants will take in beautiful views as the route winds through the Six Tunnels to Hoover Dam, with Lake Mead always in sight. In addition to a scenic route, participants can look forward to accurate timing, a race shirt, and a finisher medal. 

Packet collection takes place the day before the race, on November 26, at Trek Bicycles (formerly McGhie’s) from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  

Race schedule: 

  • Half marathon: 7:30 am 
  • 12K: 7:45 am 
  • 5K and 1-mile: 8:15 am 

Registration fees start at $40 for the 1-mile stroll and go up to $96 for the half marathon.
