Las Vegas, Nevada — Light rain showers are expected to move across southern Nevada tonight on New Year’s Eve, potentially impacting late-night travel and outdoor celebrations as 2026 begins.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, rain chances at midnight range from 40% to more than 70%, with the highest probabilities across the Las Vegas Valley, Henderson, Mesquite, and areas east of I-15. Rain is expected to remain light, but wet roads could create slick conditions during peak overnight travel hours.
Midnight temperatures will range from the upper 40s to low 50s in the Las Vegas Valley, including Las Vegas (49°), Henderson (48°), and Boulder City (49°). Cooler temperatures are expected in higher elevations, with readings in the upper 30s near Rachel and Goldfield.
Roadways that may be affected include I-15, US-95, I-515, SR-160, and US-93, particularly during intermittent showers. While flooding is not expected, brief reductions in visibility and slick pavement are possible, especially on ramps, bridges, and less-traveled roads.
Rain chances continue into New Year’s Day (Thursday), with scattered showers lingering through the morning before gradually tapering off. No winter weather hazards are anticipated, and snow levels will remain well above valley floors.
The National Weather Service advises those celebrating outdoors tonight to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution on wet roads as the New Year begins.
